My Visit to Pasado's Safe Haven

Our Santa's Workshop Helping Animals (held on December 4) was wildly successful. I want to thank all those who helped and all those who came to support our event. We were elated that money raised for the Pasado's animals came to $1,056!
I traveled to Pasado's Safe Haven to attend their Holiday Tour on Saturday and to deliver the check to them in person. Tom and I had a wonderful time there eventhough we got soaking wet in the rain as we toured their sanctuary.
We were given a private walk through by Pasado's CEO, Matt McNaughton.
During this tour, it was clear to me that Matt and his staff were passionate about their work and loved all the residents... dogs, cats, horses, cows, pigs, chickens and many more which I did not get a chance to see. They knew the names, history and special needs of all the animals.... they had each animal's personality pegged too!
I was surprised to see how spacious and clean the facility was. It was truly a professional organization. I am glad that I went to see Pasado's Safe Haven in person and I am grateful that there is a Safety Net for these animals who have gone through so much hardship in life. I only wish more animals can be rescued by Pasado's and brought to this place... truly a Safe Haven as the name implies.

Thank you Pasado's Safe Haven.... I will never be the same person again after my visit.

Do What You Love and Never Work a Day in Your Life

Sarabeth Levine - Goddess of BakedomSarabeth Bakery: My Hands to Yours

Here's an example role model of a woman who makes a good living from "doing what she loves to do",
Sarabeth Levine inspires me!
I heard about this wonderful book on baking from my friend Janet. She said the author Sarabeth Levine who resides in New York will be coming to the William Sonoma stores for a demo and book signing.
We went to listen to her stories about how to bake perfect baked goods every time and her baking tips. I loved meeting this woman.. it was obvious she bakes every piece of “out of this world bakery” with a true PASSION! I enjoyed talking with Sarabeth and it was even better when we both discovered we were bloggers.
She signed my new book “To Kay… Blogger to Blogger!”
She baked and let us taste her Currant Scones… they were out of this world!!!! Try this simple recipe on page 73 of Sarabeth’s new book, “Sarabeth’s Bakery.. From My Hands to Yours”.
After you try it, let me know if you felt the same way as I did.. out of this world goodness.

We Need to Support One Another!

I love to promote other women who are stepping up to share their stories and products with the world. It takes an incredible amount of stamina, energy and vision to accomplish what Aida and Nadia have done. I know so well... the set-backs we face through this long journey can really deflate your energy and self-esteem.
I can imagine how many times they had to get off their knees, dusting away the dirt and giving  themselves a pep-talk on why their work is important enough to finish…. because when they share their experiences, their trials and accomplishments, their stories will benefit other women, giving them the courage to pursue their own dreams.
I urge you to attend this wonderful event I am hosting to honor Aida  Kouyoumjian  and Adity Karande on November 14th in my salon, Studio 904 on Mercer Island.

Learning to see the world in a different way…

I think about Kaizen (the philosophy of life0long learning) and I feel forced to keep growing my mind into new areas of development. During the last few months, I did something which I’ve never done before. First I took a 12 session long Mixed Media and Collage on-line course from Claudine Hellmuth. Then I found a wonderful artist and an author of a newly published book, The Drawing Lab who lives in my own city! So I signed up for series of Carla Sonheim’s art workshops. What an unbelievable experience that was. Carla showed me how to open up my mind to venture into the unknown… giving myself permission to think in untraditional ways. We all get stuck in the same mindset without realizing it. I recommend everyone to go through this kind of an experience. It will make you see the whole world in a different way!
